Ryan Kirkham DESKTOP PUBLISHING MANAGER
Ryan works as the Desktop Publishing Manager for U.S. Translation Company. His responsibilities include data entry of new vendors, upkeep of the company’s vendor database, providing support to the project managers, management of the company website’s links and ranking, and multilingual desktop publishing in the following programs: Word, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Framemaker, and QuarkXpress.
Background & Education:
Ryan was born and grew up in Utah. He attended the University of Utah on an academic scholarship, pursued a double major, and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies in 2007.
While attending college, Ryan spent nearly three years in Taiwan, first as a church representative, and later as an English teacher. His extensive stays in Taiwan have given him a firm command of written and spoken Chinese as well as a vast understanding of the Chinese culture. He later participated in the ACTFL’s Mandarin Chinese Oral Proficiency Interview and received the highest possible rating.
Experience:
Before coming to U.S. Translation Company, Ryan provided free supplemental instruction classes and tutoring for Chinese students at the University of Utah. On occasion, he was asked to step in for instructors when they were unable to make it to class.
He also worked for USANA as a customer service representative for their Chinese distributors. In this position, he helped manage and troubleshoot accounts, and resolve various concerns for distributors in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and China.
Hobbies:
Ryan enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife, Monica. When he isn’t spending time with her, he often cooks, plays the piano, teaches piano lessons, goes jogging, and weight trains.
He also provides service as a Chinese-English, English-Chinese interpreter for worship meetings and church activities, and is the leader of the Young Men youth organization in his local church.
