Supply & Demand In Languages:
A Small Firm Responds with Big Results

Local, national and international organizations are waking up to realize that in order to compete, they have to step up their multilingual efforts outside of their comfort zone. They are now ramping up their online and print marketing efforts, hosting international guests for worldwide conventions and dealing with compliance to international regulations such as the European Union's CE. Because of this, the need for multilingual services has shown tremendous growth in 2007.

U.S. Translation Company (USTC), in Ogden, Utah, has seen this growth first hand with an increase in sales of 47% over 2006! As a provider of technical document translation, live conference and on-site interpretation and localization services, 2007 was an incredible year of expansion. They not only increased sales by 47%, they added over 100 new clients in an industry where the majority of sales generally come from the existing clients.

This increase is a compilation of several factors in conjunction with the proven demand.

In early 2007, USTC received two prestigious awards, the Small Minority Business of the Year Award from the Salt Lake Chamber as well as the Top 5 Business to Watch Award from the Utah Hispanic Chamber. This drew great attention to the quality of service our organization provides both for local organizations as well as for large, international firms located outside of Utah.

Although USTC is classified as a "small" SBA 8(a) firm, it operates with the same attention to detail and professionalism as the giants in the industry. Organizations and government entities are now realizing that they can receive the same superior products from a small firm at competitive rates, but also be treated to gold star customer service, which is hard to come by when working with a "giant".

Their precision project management system, OnTarget, paired with the backbone of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Certification and Registration allows this firm to keep the small feel while providing big service.

Culture Corner

In such a developed world, it may sound odd that estimates say as many as 2 billion people eat primarily with their hands. In particular, much of India, many areas in South-East Asia and throughout Africa.

Although they eat primarily without utensils (not because they are unavailable in many cases, but because they prefer it that way), they are generally strict about using the right hand only as the left hand is used for hygiene.

Refer a friend!

One of the greatest compliments a company can receive is that of a referral. It says, "I trust you and know you will treat my friend right."
2007 has been an amazing year because our clients felt our services warranted a referral. If you have referred our services to a friend, thank you!
Our goal as an ISO 9001:2001 organization is to continuously improve the quality of our service. If you have any feedback that would help us to improve in anyway, we welcome the suggestion. Please call and talk to any office representative at 800-595-4648, or e-mail info@ustranslation.com.
